Espanyol will host city rivals Barcelona in the Catalan Derby as part of the 19th week of La Liga fixtures on Sunday, January 4, 2026. This match is not just a battle for city bragging rights; it also tests whether Barcelona's dominance will continue or if Espanyol's resurgent momentum can disrupt it.
League leaders Barcelona arrive with high confidence after securing 10 consecutive wins in the league. Blaugrana currently top the table with 46 points, four points clear of their closest challengers, Real Madrid.
On paper, Barcelona are far superior to the hosts. However, Espanyol are no easy opponents.

19th-placed Real Oviedo will visit 14th-placed Alaves. Even with a win, Oviedo would still remain in 19th place.
Meanwhile, bottom club Levante will visit Sevilla's home ground. Regardless of the result, Levante will remain in the relegation zone.
