1. Malahing Floating Village, Bontang
The first recommendation is Malahing Floating Village in Bontang City. This area has transformed into an eco-friendly Tourism Village showcasing the harmonious coastal community life above the waters.
Cultural uniqueness, stilt houses over the sea, and sustainable living practices are its main attractions. Malahing Village has received the Indonesian Tourism Village Award from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
2. Miang Island, East Kutai
This small island in East Kutai Regency offers hidden charms for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.
Well-preserved coral reefs and diverse marine biota make Miang Island a relatively secluded underwater paradise, ideal for travelers seeking tranquility and adventure.
3. Ambalat Beach, Samboja
For beach tourism, Ambalat Beach in Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara, is an ideal choice due to its accessibility. Featuring a gentle coastline, rows of shady pine trees, and beachfront glamping facilities, it offers comfortable nature-immersive stays.
4. Maratua Island, Berau
Maratua Island is Kaltim's world-renowned marine tourism icon. Turquoise-gradient waters, white sand, and opportunities to swim with green turtles in their natural habitat make it a magnet for both Domestic Tourists and international visitors.
5. Nipah-Nipah Beach, North Penajam Paser
Another option, Nipah-Nipah Beach, is a local favorite for relaxing with sea breezes while watching calming bay activities near the Nusantara Capital City area. This beach suits relaxed Family Tourism in the afternoon.
Amid growing holiday interest, Ririn emphasized safety and environmental preservation.
"This Year-End Holiday moment should not only bring tourists happiness but also generate positive economic circulation for micro-enterprises around tourist sites," said Ririn.
She also urged tourists to monitor weather conditions, prioritize safety when swimming or boating, and maintain cleanliness discipline by taking personal plastic waste back or disposing of it properly.
With blue seas, warm coastal culture, and relatively preserved nature, these five destinations reveal another face of Kaltim—not merely tropical forest land, but a serene and captivating maritime realm for anyone wishing to conclude the year with a meaningful journey.
