The race at the top of the 2025/2026 Super League is heating up after Persib Bandung and Malut United both secured crucial wins in matchweek 14. At the same time, league leaders Borneo FC saw their momentum slightly stalled after being held to a draw by Persebaya Surabaya, while Persija Jakarta will play their critical match later tonight.
This combination of results has tightened the race for the top four spots in the Super League. Every point is now invaluable, especially for the teams consistently challenging at the top of the Standings.
Persib Bandung reaffirmed their championship credentials by convincingly defeating Bhayangkara FC 2-0. The match, held at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Sunday evening, December 21, 2025 (WIB), saw Maung Bandung dominate from the opening minutes.

Persib's winning goals were both scored by Ramon Tanque in the 10th and 62nd minutes. The Brazilian striker delivered a clinical performance, proving decisive in the high-tempo encounter. This victory temporarily moved Persib into second place in the standings with 31 points, displacing Persija.
From the opening whistle, Persib took the initiative. Chance after chance was created, including a Berguinho header that nearly opened the scoring earlier, before Ramon Tanque finally broke the deadlock with a low, driven shot.
Despite trailing, Bhayangkara FC were not entirely passive and threatened several times with long-range efforts. However, Persib's disciplined defense ensured they went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Entering the second half, Persib's attacking intensity didn't wane. Ramon Tanque remained a menace to the opposition defense and netted his second goal, capitalizing on an assist from Thom Haye. After going two goals up, Persib played more controlled football, successfully protecting their lead until the final whistle.
Switching to Parepare, Malut United also grabbed attention by edging PSM Makassar 1-0 at BJ Habibie Stadium. This win felt special as it extended Malut's unbeaten streak to nine consecutive matches.
The solitary Malut goal was scored by David da Silva early in the game. Capitalizing on a defensive error by PSM, the unmarked David calmly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Hilman Syah. This quick goal proved decisive in a tightly contested match that remained close until the final whistle.
After falling behind, PSM tried to mount a comeback and applied pressure. Several chances arose, including headers from Yuran Fernandes and runs by substitute Rizky Eka Pratama. However, Malut's solid defense and disciplined goalkeeping by Alan consistently thwarted Juku Eja's efforts.
In the second half, Malut even came close to doubling their lead through actions by Ciro Alves and David da Silva. Although they failed to add another goal, Malut remained in control of the match and secured the crucial three points.
This result keeps Malut United firmly in the top-four race with 28 points, significantly ahead of PSM, who are stuck in mid-table with 19 points. Malut's consistency in recent weeks signals they are more than just this season's dark horse.
Meanwhile, in another match, temporary league leaders Borneo FC failed to secure a win after being held to a 2-2 draw by Persebaya Surabaya. This result opened the door for their rivals to keep applying pressure at the top.
This situation makes matchweek 14 feel increasingly pivotal. Persib successfully capitalized on their chance to climb the table, Malut kept their title challenge alive, while Borneo began to feel the heat from the teams below them.
As for Persija Jakarta, they will play their match on Monday night, December 22, 2025, at 19:00 WIB against Semen Padang. This match is crucial for Macan Kemayoran to respond to Persib's win and maintain their position near the top.
With the points gap narrowing and a packed schedule ahead, the 2025/2026 Super League is entering an increasingly competitive phase. Every Match Result impacts not only the standings but also the psychological momentum of the teams involved in the title race. The battle at the top is guaranteed to heat up even more in the coming weeks.
