The 2025 Indonesian Night organized by the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Kyoto presented a vibrant and meaningful cultural celebration. The event took place merrily at the Kyoto City International Community House (Kokoka) on September 15, 2025, attended by over 350 spectators from diverse backgrounds.

"The support from the Indonesian Ministry of Culture provides not only assistance but also the spirit to consistently introduce Indonesian culture in Japan. We have received abundant positive responses about this performance from Indonesian, Japanese, and international communities," stated the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Naomi Hasian Felicia, in her official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Several prominent figures attended, including the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Osaka, John Tjahjanto Boestami; the Head of the Bank Indonesia Tokyo Regional Office, Imaddudin Sahabat; and the Chairman of the Japan-Indonesia Friendship Association (APJI), Iwahashi Nobuhiro.

A Blend of Education, Interaction, and Entertainment

Carrying the theme "The Language of the Archipelago, Inspiring the World," the event featured a series of activities combining education, interaction, and entertainment on a single stage.

The Archipelago Culinary Festival transported visitors back to their homeland through the flavors of authentic Indonesian cuisine, ranging from traditional dishes and refreshing beverages to authentic snacks.

Meanwhile, the Batik Workshop, involving Putra Putri Batik Nusantara (PPBN), the Alumni Association of Putra Putri Batik Nusantara (IAPPBN), and the Archipelago Batik Lovers Association (IPBN), provided participants with a personal experience to understand the philosophy of batik. Beyond merely observing, they also had the opportunity to create simple batik artwork to take home as souvenirs.

Musical Drama and the Power of Cultural Messages

The peak of the event was filled with a musical drama titled "Hiroshi's Journey Exploring Indonesia." The story of a young Japanese man searching for hidden treasures in the archipelago was beautifully presented, conveying the universal message that true wealth lies not merely in material possessions, but in harmony with God, fellow humans, and nature.

In addition to the drama, dance performances enriched the atmosphere. These included the Tun Putri Dance from Riau, the Enggang Gading Dance from Kalimantan, the Dikideng Dance from East Nusa Tenggara performed by Svadara Warna Indonesia, and the Tri Hita Karana Contemporary Dance promoting the message of life balance. All these performances reflected Indonesia's cultural diversity in a fresh and entertaining format.

The Chairperson of PPI Kyoto, Ayik Abdillah, emphasized the important role of Indonesian students in cultural diplomacy.

"With the support of the Ministry of Culture, we were able to present a performance that not only entertains but also provides an understanding of the nation's diversity and noble values. This is a form of cultural diplomacy that must be continuously maintained," he stated.

Indonesian Night 2025 was not merely an entertainment event, but also a medium for cultural diplomacy. The full support from the Ministry of Culture as the main sponsor demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening Indonesia's position on the international stage through its cultural heritage.
