The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta views the Jakarta Tourism Awards (JTA) 2025 not merely as an awards event, but as part of a strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of the capital's tourism industry. Through these awards, the Provincial Government aims to encourage improvements in the quality of products, services, and management of tourist destinations in Jakarta.

"This event focuses on customer value by elevating standards for products, services, and management of Jakarta's tourism industry," stated Iffan, Head of the Tourism Industry Division at the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department (Disparekraf), during the "Socialization and Launch of Jakarta Tourism Awards 2025" event in Jakarta on Friday, September 19, 2025.

According to Iffan, JTA is not only a selection moment but can also serve as a coaching tool for tourism businesses. Through regular evaluations, the Provincial Government seeks to encourage entrepreneurs to continuously improve their performance. In his statement, he also acknowledged that JTA represents the Government's appreciation for industry players demonstrating dedication and tangible contributions to tourism and the creative economy.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government legally anchors these awards through Governor Regulation Number 18 of 2018 concerning Tourism Business Operations. The regulation—enacted on March 13, 2018—stipulates that tourism businesses demonstrating achievement and dedication are entitled to receive awards from the Governor.

Iffan also linked JTA to public service improvement efforts.

"DKI Jakarta will turn 500 years old in 2027, which is why we're enhancing public services as our focus," emphasized Iffan.

History & Scope of Jakarta Tourism Awards

In previous editions, JTA has covered diverse categories of tourism and creative economy businesses. In the 2022 edition, for example, there were 31 categories including hotels (star-rated to non-starred), restaurants (fast food, buffet, fine dining, specialty), cafes, bakeries, bars, travel agencies, tourist attractions (museums, art galleries), cinemas, game arenas, golf courses, fitness centers, MICE venues, as well as lifetime achievement and community awards.

This broad categorization demonstrates DKI Jakarta's intention to engage all elements of the tourism ecosystem—from accommodation and culinary to activities and creative events. (Antara)
