Stop Borneo FC Domination, Persib Revives Super League Title Race

Persib Bandung defeated the current league leaders, Borneo FC, with a score of 3-1 in the postponed fifth-week match of the 2025/2026 Super League at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA), Bandung City, Friday night, December 5, 2025.
This victory is not merely three points, but also a moment for The Bandung Maung to close the gap on their closest rival in the race for the top spot.
The additional three points haven't changed Persib's position in the top three with 28 points. Meanwhile, Borneo FC remains at the summit with 33 points. However, the gap, which had previously widened, has now been reduced to five points.

From the opening minutes of the match, Persib didn't want to give their visitors any space. Beckham Putera sent a through pass to Uilliam Barros. However, that opportunity was still thwarted by the Borneo FC defense.
It was actually Borneo FC who took the lead first in the 16th minute. Joel Vinicius latched onto Kei Hirose's pass, then got past Federico Barba before slotting the ball into the Persib goal.
Trailing 0-1, Persib were stung and responded quickly. They applied pressure after pressure which finally resulted in a goal in the 40th minute. Beckham Putera's accurate cross was headed in by Ramon Tanque. The 1-1 score held until halftime.
In the second half, Persib immediately stepped on the gas. Just five minutes after the restart, they took the lead. A corner kick from Luciano Guaycochea caused a scramble which Federico Barba maximized into a goal in the 50th minute.
Ramon Tanque almost increased the lead in the 57th minute through a brilliant individual effort, but goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata was still able to parry the ball.
Entering the last 15 minutes, Borneo FC increased their intensity and tried to threaten again. However, the solid Persib defensive line broke down every attempt by Pesut Etam.
When the match looked set to end 2-1, Persib sealed the victory in the 97th minute. Uilliam Barros delivered a perfect pass finished off by Saddil Ramdani to make the score 3-1.
With this result, Persib not only secured a big win but also heats up the title race.
