The Indonesian U22 team has finally learned their updated schedule for the 2025 SEA Games football event in Thailand. Following group composition changes due to Cambodia's withdrawal and Singapore's move to Group A, the Garuda Muda will now begin their gold medal defense campaign next week.
Originally, Indonesia was scheduled to play earlier against Singapore on Friday, December 5, 2025. However, the format change means they must wait one week longer before playing their first match.

Grouped in Group C with the Philippines and Myanmar, Indonesia will first face the Philippines on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 6 PM Western Indonesia Time at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium.
This opening match is a crucial momentum for the Garuda Muda, as only the group winner is guaranteed to advance to the semifinals, accompanied by the best runner-up.
Four days later, Indonesia will conclude their group stage journey by facing Myanmar on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 6 PM WIB at the same stadium.
With only two matches available, every point will be vital in the effort to retain the SEA Games gold medal won in the 2023 edition.
Defending Champion Pressure and Semifinal Qualification Target
To maintain their chance of retaining the title, Indonesia must finish as group leader.
With this strict format, even a small mistake could make advancing to the final four more difficult.
Indonesian Squad Strength
Coach Indra Sjafri has announced the list of 23 players selected through two training camps in October and November, including four test matches against India U23 and Mali U22.
Indra included three diaspora players: Ivar Jenner (FC Utrecht), Dion Markx (TOP Oss), and Mauro Zijlstra (FC Volendam). Marselino Ferdinan (AS Trencin), previously on the list, did not join.
"This decision was made after thorough evaluation based on data collected during the October and November training camps and observation of players in the Super League, done together with the coaching staff and team performance," said Indra.
