A fierce duel between two world golfers, Australia's Wade Ormsby and Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent, unfolded at the Jakarta International Championship 2025 on Sunday afternoon.

The initially calm atmosphere turned tense as both players finished four rounds with identical scores of 268 strokes, 12 under par. Neither wanted to leave without the title, and the decision moved to a sudden-death playoff.

Everything changed at the deciding hole. Vincent’s second shot missed, landing in the water beside the green.

Ormsby, playing more calmly, seized the opportunity perfectly.

His final putt secured victory and etched his name as the inaugural champion of the Jakarta International Championship (JAKIC) 2025.

This win was especially sweet for Ormsby. Not only his fifth Asian Tour title, but also his second trophy in the International Series after previously winning the 2023 International Series Thailand.

"I was disappointed with yesterday’s penalty, but I reset my mind and refocused. This is special after several months of poor performances," said Ormsby during the winner’s ceremony.

Yet victory wasn't the only spotlight. JAKIC 2025’s debut drew praise from various parties, including Jakarta’s Provincial Government. Governor Pramono Anung, present on-site, called the event a new symbol of Jakarta’s global standing.

"This tournament is more than just golf. Jakarta wants recognition not only as a business and cultural hub but also as a world-class sports destination," stated Pramono.

For Jakarta, JAKIC isn’t merely a tournament but a stage to demonstrate the city’s parity with international hosts from Bangkok to Dubai.

For Ormsby, this win proved experience and composure remain key weapons under elite competition pressure.

Among local players, Indonesian golfers also earned appreciation. Kevin Akbar delivered the most consistent performance with 274 strokes (6 under par), securing T29 position.

Jonathan Wijono concluded the tournament at T66 with 281 strokes, while Gabriel Hansel Hari finished 76th with 289 strokes.

Though unable to break into the top ranks, their participation signals positive development for national golf—especially before home crowds at such a major event.
