Two years ago, Hokky Caraka failed to be part of the U22 squad that successfully brought home the gold medal from the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia. That moment still lingers in the heart of the Persita Tangerang striker. He aims to settle his unfinished business at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

“This is my second time (training under Indra Sjafri). Last SEA Games and now. For the previous SEA Games, I was initially part of the team but got cut. Maybe I didn’t fit the scheme,” Hokky told Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Now, at a more mature age with increased experience in the BRI Super League, Hokky has another opportunity to fight for his place. Beyond that, he arrives with the determination to win gold alongside his teammates.

“As a team—players, officials, and staff—we’ve set our target from the very first gathering. Even our chants emphasize winning gold, which drives our motivation at the SEA Games,” he added.

U22 Team Preparation: Evaluating Mali Matches and Positive Progress

Hokky believes the Garuda Muda's preparations are solid. The two test matches against Mali provided valuable lessons, highlighting minor errors and areas for improved team coordination.

“Personally, I feel we’ve made significant progress in training. We’ve addressed the small mistakes and team coordination issues that surfaced during the friendly against Mali. The coach has given us thorough evaluations,” he said.

He also praised the coaching staff’s enhanced and more comprehensive support compared to previous cycles.

“Coach Indra [Sjafri] has selected top analysts here. I’ve discussed with them aspects of my game that need improvement and strengths to build upon,” stated the player who represented the U20 team at the 2023 U20 Asian Cup.

Focus on Gold, Not Personal Goals

Though strikers are typically goal-driven, Hokky prioritizes team success over personal ambitions for next year’s SEA Games.

“I’m setting aside personal targets for now. What matters most is winning gold and defending our title,” he emphasized.

For Hokky, the ultimate proof lies in helping Indonesia reclaim the top podium position.

Group C: A Challenging Path to Chiangmai

Indonesia's U22 team is in Group C with Singapore, Philippines, and Myanmar. All matches will take place in Chiangmai.

Hokky’s quest for redemption now aligns with Indonesia’s ambition to retain gold. With a strengthening team foundation and unwavering personal resolve, SEA Games 2025 could be his proving ground.
