At the end of the year, when travel becomes a universal language and tourists begin seeking new experiences, Indonesia prepares to present a packed and energetic celebration calendar. Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa revealed 244 events have been prepared to enliven the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period across the archipelago.

"The number of events during Nataru (Christmas and New Year) is 244 spread throughout Indonesia," stated Ni Luh at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

These events span diverse scales and genres, from music festivals and business meetings to MICE events and cultural celebrations honoring local identities. Among the hundreds of agendas, the government highlights four major events expected to boost visits from both international and domestic tourists.

1. Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) - Bali

With its Electronic Dance Music (EDM) focus, DWP has transformed into one of Southeast Asia's largest music festivals. In 2025, the event will relocate to Bali, an island long synonymous with global festivals.

The event targets 70 thousand attendees, offering a perfect fusion of world-class electronic music and visually stunning tropical landscapes.

2. Jogja Rockarta Festival

At the heart of Javanese culture, the Jogja Rockarta Festival delivers a distinct energy—loud, bold, and full of character.

Aiming for 5 thousand visitors, this festival unites national and international rock musicians in a city renowned as Indonesia's creative hub.

3. Minangkabau Festival

This comprehensive celebration of Minang culture targets 54 thousand tourists through art performances, culinary traditions, literature, and architecture.

The festival serves as a gateway for tourists to experience West Sumatra's rich, layered identity.

4. BigBang Festival Jakarta

As the largest event on the list, BigBang Festival Jakarta aims for 895 thousand visitors.

This massive urban celebration combines year-end shopping, entertainment, and cultural experiences accessible to the broader public.

Tour Packages and Priority Destinations

Beyond these four flagship events, the government has prepared 65 tour packages targeting 10 Priority Destinations—from Lake Toba to Labuan Bajo—along with non-priority destinations nationwide.

"We currently have a travel fair scheduled from December 2025 to January 2026. We are still compiling data on packages sold until January 2026," Ni Luh explained.

This initiative ensures tourists not only enjoy events but also explore Indonesia’s landscapes, cultures, and natural riches stretching from west to east.

Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN): Revitalizing Local Identity

Beyond major celebrations, the Tourism Ministry bolsters its promotion strategy through the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program.

KEN collaborates with regional governments to curate and host quality events across cities and regencies.

The program aims to showcase Indonesia’s destination wealth more equitably. Through curated events, KEN expects to increase tourist visits, stimulate local economies, expand employment, and generate positive socio-cultural and environmental impacts.

With dozens of festivals, thematic journeys, and continuously enhanced destinations, the 2026 Nataru holiday could become one of Indonesia’s most vibrant tourism periods.
