Indonesian pairs dominated the men's and women's doubles sectors by securing championship titles at the Australian Open 2025 finals in Quaycentre, Sydney, on Sunday. These two all-Indonesian finals featured thrilling three-game dramas, affirming the depth of the Merah Putih squad at the elite level.

In the men's doubles sector, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin became the tournament's surprise after defeating their seniors Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 22-20, 10-21, 21-18.

This victory confirmed the rapid development of the young pair while signaling increasingly mature regeneration in Indonesia's men's doubles sector.

In the first game, Fajar/Fikri started with an 11-8 lead at the interval and continued to dominate.

However, Raymond/Nikolaus played patiently and kept the score gap narrow. Their precision paid off when they turned the tables to lead 18-17 and eventually closed the opening game 22-20.

Fajar/Fikri responded in the second game. Playing more aggressively, they again led 11-8 at the interval and extended their dominance to win decisively 21-10. The tied score forced the match into a decisive third game.

Early in the third game, the contest remained tight at 5-5. Raymond/Nikolaus maintained momentum to lead 11-10 at the break.

After a long rally, they widened the gap to 16-11—a crucial advantage in the final phase.

Though Fajar/Fikri attempted a comeback with relentless pressure, Raymond/Nikolaus remained calmer at critical points and closed the match 21-18. This championship title marks their greatest achievement to date on the world tour level.

Equally Fierce Battle in Women's Doubles Sector

In the women's doubles sector, an equally intense duel unfolded as Rachel Allesya Rose/Febi Setianingrum claimed the championship after defeating Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilsya Trias Puspitasari 18-21, 21-19, 23-21. This tight contest proved the competitiveness of Indonesia's women's regeneration.

Ana/Trias dominated the first game with a commanding 11-5 lead at the interval. Rachel/Febi briefly improved their performance but conceded 18-21 after Trias secured the closing point.

Entering the second game, both pairs engaged in a tight battle from 2-2 to 8-8. The interval remained close with Ana/Trias leading 11-10. However, Rachel/Febi managed to catch up, equalizing at 17-17, and closed the second game 21-19 to force a rubber game.

The third game began with Ana/Trias scoring five consecutive points, extending their lead to 11-7 at the interval. But Rachel/Febi gradually fought back to level at 15-15 and again at 18-18.

At the crucial moment, both pairs exchanged pressure until 21-21. Rachel/Febi displayed better composure and finally secured a dramatic 23-21 victory, bringing home the Australian Open 2025 women's doubles title.

With two doubles titles, Indonesia reaffirmed its traditional strength in world badminton. The performances of these two champion pairs also provide crucial momentum heading into major upcoming tournaments on the BWF calendar.
