2,000 Runners Celebrate Fun Run at Borobudur, Grand Finale of Borobudur Marathon 2025

The Borobudur 2025 Fun Run brought an energetic atmosphere as around 2,000 runners filled the Borobudur Sports Field area. This marked the closing of the Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2025 series. 

Although it was a light segment of the overall agenda, the Fun Run turned into a people's party that reinforced the strong connection between sports, culture, and the Borobudur community.

For Magelang residents, this event became not just a running celebration but also a space for togetherness. 

Asfuri Muhsis, Assistant for General Administration of the Magelang Regency Secretariat, emphasized that the Fun Run was a form of gratitude to the community for their ongoing support of the marathon.

"On behalf of the local government, we warmly welcome this activity. Its impact is excellent—promoting physical health and boosting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)," he said.

Asfuri added that the Fun Run was the regency government's way of appreciating Pawone MSME actors, cheer groups, and residents directly or indirectly involved in the success of Borobudur Marathon 2025.

Major Collaboration Supporting Borobudur Marathon

Community support became one of the marathon's main strengths. Djaka Nur Sahid, Corporate Secretary of Bank Jateng, expressed appreciation to residents and local governments who facilitated this major event.

"This is our appreciation for Magelang Regency residents who greatly assisted the smooth execution of Bank Jateng Borobudur Marathon 2025 with 11,500 runners. This reflects community participation, and Borobudur Marathon will continue in the future," he stated.

Djaka hopes collaboration between government, communities, and the private sector will keep strengthening the regional economy alongside the growing sports tourism sector.

Fun Run as Borobudur’s Cultural Space and Identity

Public enthusiasm was evident since morning. Residents gathered, communities mingled, and runners enjoyed Borobudur's distinctive atmosphere. 

Borobudur Subdistrict Head Subiyanto viewed the Fun Run not merely as a leisure run but as a means to affirm Borobudur's identity as a meeting point of sports and culture.

"The massive turnout this morning shows the community's strong sense of ownership toward Borobudur Marathon. This Fun Run connects residents, communities, and Borobudur culture in a warm, spirited atmosphere," he remarked.

Energetic Weekend at Borobudur Temple’s Foot

With Borobudur Temple in the distance, cheering spectators, and runners of all ages hitting the track, the Borobudur 2025 Fun Run concluded Central Java's largest running event. 

This event not only produced resilient runners but also strengthened social bonds within the Borobudur community.

The Borobudur Marathon 2025 series officially ended, but the spirit of unity born from the Fun Run will continue to be the foundation for future editions of the event. (Antara)
