New Energy of Young Garuda, Marselino Ferdinan Can Play in SEA Games 2025

The Indonesian U-22 team can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Amidst intense preparations for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, good news arrived from Europe, specifically Slovakia. Young midfielder Marselino Ferdinan is confirmed to be able to play for Garuda Muda after smooth communication between BTN and AS Trenčín.

"Indeed, our communication with Marselino's club has, God willing, reached a very positive point," stated BTN Chairman Sumardji while attending the team's training at Madya Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Monday, November 17, 2025.

Marselino Ready to Join Indra Sjafri's Squad in Thailand

Coach Indra Sjafri is currently conducting the second training camp (TC) with 30 players, including Ivar Jenner, Rafael Struick, and Mauro Zijlstra.

"We have scheduled Lino's departure from his club for the end of November, yes, this late November," added Sumardji.

He continued that the U-22 team will depart for Thailand on November 27, 2025. This means Marselino will join during the group stage, which cannot be considered easy.

Marselino's Third SEA Games

When Marselino steps onto the field in Thailand, he will mark his third SEA Games appearance. In the two previous editions, he collected a bronze medal (2021) and a gold medal (2023).

Marselino has earned 37 caps with the senior national team. At the SEA Games, he has played 11 matches, contributing 4 goals and 2 assists for Garuda Muda.

Indonesia is grouped in Group C with Myanmar, Philippines, and Singapore. Garuda Muda will begin their campaign on September 5 - Indonesia vs Singapore, December 8 - Indonesia vs Philippines, and December 12 - Indonesia vs Myanmar. (Antara)
