Cristiano Ronaldo has once again commented on the state of his former club, Manchester United. The Portuguese megastar believes coach Ruben Amorim cannot be expected to perform miracles to change the fortunes of the still-struggling Red Devils.
“Manchester United remains in my heart, I love that club. But we all have to be honest, look in the mirror and say 'look, they are not on the right track', so they need to fix things. And I think it's not about the manager and the players,” stated Ronaldo in an interview with Piers Morgan.
Ruben Amorim officially took charge of Manchester United in November 2024 with hopes of reviving the club's glory. However, his performance so far has not been entirely convincing.

Last season, MU finished 15th in the English league, their worst position in the Premier League era. Consequently, Bruno Fernandes and his teammates will miss European competition in the 2025/2026 season.
Nevertheless, signs of a revival are beginning to show. MU currently sit eighth in the standings, having collected five wins, including a historic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.
However, for Ronaldo, these results are not enough to cover up the root problems within the Red Devils.
Ronaldo emphasized that what MU is experiencing is not merely a coaching issue. According to him, the club's current condition is too complex to be changed quickly, even by a manager of Amorim's caliber.
These remarks imply a sharp criticism that Manchester United needs a complete overhaul, not just a change of manager or a new strategy.
Sharp Criticism for MU Players
Besides stating Amorim shouldn't be blamed, Ronaldo also highlighted the attitude of some MU players who he feels lack respect for the club.
“You cannot perform miracles, even for the players. Manchester United has many good players, but some of them have no idea what Manchester United is,” CR7 asserted.
For Ronaldo, Manchester United's main problem now is the loss of the identity and winning mentality that once characterized the club during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Although MU's performance is improving under Amorim, Ronaldo's criticism serves as a harsh reminder that a huge task still awaits at Old Trafford.
Amorim might be successfully restoring the team's spirit on the pitch, but rebuilding Manchester United's winning DNA requires more than just momentary victories.
