A subtle aroma of luxury wafted through the stage at Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2026. Amidst the stage lights and gentle melodies, fashion brand The Rizkianto captivated with its latest collection titled "Casa", a work bringing the essence of Garut to the global fashion stage.
"Casa" means home. In the home built by Creative Director, Dery Rizkianto, every strand of Garut embroidered woven fabric became an honored guest, warmly welcomed by classical European style.
This collection is not merely an exhibition of fabric, but an artistic journey bridging tradition and modernity.
"I truly wanted to make woven fabric more versatile, not monotonously confined to being very traditional, which people might think like 'oh woven fabric can only be worn this way, that way'. But I wanted to bring woven fabric to a more global position," said Dery Rizkianto, during the JFW 2026 press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
That vision felt clear in every garment cut. The Rizkianto collaborated with Garut artisans to create special woven fabric and yarn.
Not only unique, the process was also meticulous. Gold-champagne toned metallic thread was hand-embroidered, creating subtle and elegant circular patterns.
"So we custom-made the fabric itself, we sorted the yarn ourselves, one of a kind, something never produced in Garut before. You could say this is probably the only Garut woven fabric using that yarn," said Dery.
The result? A revolutionary transformation. Woven fabric, traditionally known for its conventional motifs, now appeared with contemporary polka dot patterns – something rare, even almost unheard of in the world of Garut weaving.
This touch brought a glamorous and feminine impression characteristic of the 1950s, as if inviting imaginations of dance parties in Paris, yet with an Indonesian soul.
The "Casa" collection featured 13 stunning looks, ranging from long gowns and structured jackets to elegant skirts, dominated by black and gold.
Every step the models took on the runway seemed to affirm that Garut woven fabric is no longer solely of the past, but a new language in world fashion.
In the Cita Tenun Indonesia fashion show titled "Liminal", The Rizkianto proved tradition can speak softly yet resonate far.
"Casa" is not just a collection but a home for collaboration, innovation, and pride in Indonesian textiles.
That night, amidst the glitter of JFW 2026, the audience knew that Garut is now not only famous for its dodol, but also for its woven fabrics that can walk gracefully on the world's catwalk.(Antara)
