Persebaya Defeats Port FC, Persija Accompanies Bajul Ijo to the 2026 President's Cup Semifinals.

Persebaya Surabaya secured their position as Group B champions of the 2026 President's Cup after coming from behind to beat Port FC 2-1 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya on Saturday evening, 1 August 2026. This victory did not only book Bajul Ijo's ticket to the semi-finals, it also confirmed Persija Jakarta will accompany them into the final four.

With this result, Persebaya completed a clean sweep of their three group stage matches to collect a perfect total of nine points. Meanwhile, Port FC had to settle for third place with four points and missed out on progression to the semi-finals.

Despite finishing level on points with Persija Jakarta, Port FC fell short on goal difference, allowing the Macan Kemayoran side to claim the Group B runner-up spot.

Persebaya pushed on the attack right from the opening whistle. Bernardo Tavares' squad dominated possession, however Port FC's disciplined defensive line repeatedly neutralised the home side's attacking moves. Port FC instead took the lead first in the 30th minute through a headed finish from Issam Al Subhi.

Trailing by one goal, Persebaya increased their attacking pressure, which resulted in a goal five minutes before half time. Miguel Pereira struck a half-volley that Port FC goalkeeper Falkesgaard was unable to save.

This goal reignited Persebaya's momentum. Heading into the break, Malik Risaldi, Yann and Miguel continued to bombard the opposition defence, but the score remained locked at 1-1 at half time.

Only two minutes after the second half kicked off, Alex Martins turned the match around. Persebaya's new striker scored in the 47th minute after connecting with a pass from Francisco Rivera, putting Persebaya ahead 2-1.

Port FC's position grew even more difficult midway through the second half. In the 61st minute, the Thai representative was reduced to 10 players after the referee upgraded an initial yellow card decision to an immediate straight red card for Bruno Moreira.

With the man advantage, Persebaya took full control of the fixture. Bajul Ijo successfully managed the match tempo while completely neutralising attacking threats from the now blunt Port FC front line.

Even with eight minutes of stoppage time awarded at the end of the second half, Port FC still failed to create any dangerous chances to score an equaliser.

Persebaya will face Arema FC in the semi-finals, while Persija will take on Persib Bandung.
