The appearance of Chinese badminton legend Lin Dan adds further excitement to Shuttle Open 2026.
This gathering of legends reawakens badminton fans' memories of the historic rivalries that unfolded over decades.
Shuttle Open 2026 is initiated by MAKUKU and AceKid Indonesia. Alongside hosting friendly matches, the organisers also carry a greater mission: to inspire the younger generation through public figures who once brought pride to their nation.
"Through this event, we invite Indonesian families to watch our national badminton legends prove that achievement does not end on the podium. It continues to live on through real action and inspiration for the next generation," stated Patrick Owen, Vice President of MAKUKU Global and AceKid Indonesia during a press conference in Jakarta.
According to Owen, the greatest value of sport is not measured solely by championship titles, but also by the positive impact it creates for communities and young athletes.
He expressed hope that Shuttle Open 2026 will become a moment that strengthens the bond between badminton legends, fans, and the next generation of Indonesian badminton athletes.
"Through this series of events, we are reminded once again that the greatest legacy we can leave behind is not medals or business success. It is the opportunities we create for those who will come after us," Owen stated.
Indonesian badminton legend Ricky Ahmad Soebagdja has also voiced his support for Shuttle Open 2026. He noted that an event of this kind will deliver a unique experience for badminton lovers.
"Hosting an event like this is excellent momentum to revive badminton euphoria among the public, while also bringing this sport even closer to its fans," Ricky remarked.
Beyond the exhibition matches, Shuttle Open 2026 also carries a social mission through a charity auction programme.
During this activity, the Indonesian badminton legends will auction off various personal belongings to support the development of national athletes.
All proceeds from the auction will be distributed to Indonesian badminton athletes requiring assistance to continue their professional careers.
