Zidane Officially Appointed Head Coach of the France National Team, Leading Les Bleus Into a New Era Until 2030

Zinedine Zidane has been officially appointed by the French Football Federation (FFF) as the new head coach of the national team, replacing Didier Deschamps. This appointment also opens a new chapter for one of the greatest powerhouses in world football.

The announcement was published through FFF's official social media accounts. Zidane signed a four-year contract that will see him lead the France national team until the summer of 2030.

His first assignment will be to guide Les Bleus to compete in two major tournaments: Euro 2028 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The federation expects Zidane to return France to title contention after the conclusion of Didier Deschamps' era.

The appointment of the 54-year-old coach came as no real surprise. His name had long been floated as the strongest candidate to take over the France national team coaching role, after Deschamps chose to end his tenure following Kylian Mbappé and his squad's fourth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup.

Zidane's proven track record as a manager was the core reason for this appointment. His coaching career began with Real Madrid's youth teams in 2012, before he was entrusted to lead the club's first team in 2016.

During his first spell as Real Madrid head coach, Zidane delivered one of the most successful eras in the club's history. He secured three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles, one La Liga crown, two UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

After an initial departure from the Santiago Bernabéu, Zidane returned to take charge of Real Madrid in March 2019. In his second tenure, he added further honours by guiding Los Blancos to one La Liga title and one Spanish Super Cup, before stepping down from the position in June 2021.

Zidane's success is not limited to the touchline. As a player, he is regarded as one of the greatest icons in the history of French football.

This Algerian-descent legend helped Les Bleus win the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship, and became the defining symbol of French football's golden generation.

At club level, Zidane also collected numerous prestigious trophies, including the Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid, as well as the Serie A title during his time at Juventus.
