Jose Mourinho has finally returned to the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid have officially announced the re-appointment of Mourinho as head coach on a three-year contract running until 30 June 2029.
This confirmation was announced via the club's official website, marking the start of the Portuguese coach's second tenure with Los Blancos after more than a decade apart.
"The Board of Directors and Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez have reached an agreement to appoint Jose Mourinho as first team head coach for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029," read the club's official statement released on Friday.

Mourinho's return stands as one of Real Madrid's biggest decisions ahead of the new season. Amid pressure to dominate both Spanish and European football, club management have turned to a figure who previously delivered massive transformation during his first spell at Madrid.
According to Sports Illustrated reports, Real Madrid were required to pay a £13 million compensation fee, equivalent to approximately 311 billion Indonesian Rupiah, to Benfica in order to terminate Mourinho's contract with the Portuguese side.
Mourinho's arrival is also deeply tied to the commitment of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez. Prior to this, Pérez had stated he would consider bringing Mourinho back should he win re-election as club president in the vote held earlier this month.
Mourinho's first spell at Real Madrid ran between 2010 and 2013. Despite only staying for three seasons, he left a significant lasting impact on the club's trajectory.
During that tenure, Mourinho delivered one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Spanish Super Cup. One of his most celebrated achievements was ending Barcelona's dominance, as he led Real Madrid to lift the La Liga trophy with an extraordinary record points tally in the 2011/2012 season.
After leaving Madrid, Mourinho continued his career across multiple top European clubs. He returned for a second spell at Chelsea, before going on to manage Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.
His career journey then took him to Italy with AS Roma, before he took on the challenge in Turkey at Fenerbahce. Most recently, Mourinho had been in charge of his home country club Benfica.
Los Blancos are currently going through a period well below their usual high standards. Real Madrid have failed to win a single trophy over the last two seasons, a very rare situation for a club with such a historic legacy and level of ambition.
This is why Mourinho's arrival is viewed as a move to restore a winning mentality within the Madrid dressing room.
His track record of winning major trophies in England, Spain, Italy, and European Competitions was the core reason club management have once again entrusted him with this major project.
The second Jose Mourinho era at the Santiago Bernabeu is now officially underway. All eyes now turn to whether the manager can replicate his past success, and carry Real Madrid back to the summit of European Football.
