Large-scale international music concerts are no longer just entertainment events, but are now also recognized as a driving force for the tourism sector. Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that Indonesia is increasingly trusted to host various world-class events which carry the potential to bring in greater numbers of foreign tourists.
According to Widiyanti, hosting international concerts opens major opportunities for Indonesia to introduce its tourist destinations, culture, as well as the hospitality of its people to visitors from all across the globe.
"For the government, these concerts are not merely entertainment occurrences. This is a valuable momentum to showcase Indonesia as a friendly, creative, safe destination that is fully ready to welcome the world," Widiyanti stated in an official Instagram post from the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday.

Indonesia and South Korea are preparing more attractive tourism collaborations.
One of the highlighted upcoming events is the planned BTS concert in Jakarta, scheduled for 26, 27 and 29 December 2026. Widiyanti expressed confidence that this concert will attract even more foreign tourists, particularly among the younger generation and creative communities.
The resulting impacts are not expected to be limited only to the concert venue area. Visiting tourists will likely stay at hotels, try local cuisine, visit cafes, use various transport services, purchase local SME products, and share their experiences while in Indonesia through social media.
Recognizing this potential, the government has confirmed it will strengthen tourism promotion efforts while building collaborative partnerships with various industry players, so that the economic benefits can be felt by a wider scope of society.
"The goal is to enrich the experience of visitors during their stay in Indonesia, while also expanding the economic impact for tourism operators and creative economy stakeholders," she explained.
Widiyanti assessed that the massive global attention attracted by international concerts also serves as a valuable opportunity to introduce Indonesian tourist destinations to the global market.
Beyond tourist destinations, the government also aims to showcase Indonesia's rich culinary heritage, culture, and community hospitality, in order to leave a lasting positive impression on visiting tourists.
For this reason, the government is encouraging synergy between event organizers, tourism industry actors, regional governments, and local communities, so that every international event delivers optimal economic impact.
Hotels, restaurants, cafes, transport providers, SME operators, creative economy industries, and tourist destination managers are all expected to jointly capitalize on the increased tourist arrival flow during concert periods.
Widiyanti is optimistic that the concept of music tourism can develop into one of the new core strengths of Indonesia's tourism sector. This travel trend that combines entertainment with immersive tourism experiences is increasingly gaining popularity among global travelers.
"Major events must become a memorable experience for visitors, while also delivering tangible benefits for the local economy and building a positive image of Indonesia on the world stage," she added.
With the growing number of global-scale music concerts being hosted, Indonesia not only holds the opportunity to increase foreign tourist arrivals, but also strengthen its position as a leading entertainment and creative economy tourism destination within the Asian region.
