The departure of Patrick Kluivert from the Indonesian National Team hasn't halted the career of the Dutch coach. It didn't take long for Kluivert to reportedly receive several offers to coach other teams. This news was directly confirmed by his close associate, Alex Pastoor, former assistant coach of the Indonesian National Team.

In an interview with Dutch media outlet Voetbal International, Pastoor revealed Kluivert and his agent have been contacted by several parties.

“I spoke with Patrick Kluivert's agent. Several opportunities have come to them,” stated Pastoor, quoted Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

This news captured the attention of the domestic football public, coming just days after PSSI announced the end of their cooperation with Kluivert following the failure to qualify Indonesia for the 2026 World Cup.

Although his tenure in Indonesia has ended, Pastoor doesn't rule out working again with Kluivert and other staff members like Gerald Vanenburg and Denny Landzaat. The football world, he believes, is always full of surprises.

“There's always a possibility we'll collaborate,” he emphasized.

Dismissal is Common in Football

Pastoor admitted he wasn't shocked by the decision to dismiss Kluivert and his coaching staff. He views such events as inherent to life in football.

“When you've been involved in football for a long time, this kind of thing is no longer surprising. But I did think this project would last longer than just attempting World Cup qualification,” stated Pastoor.

He also described the internal atmosphere leading up to the final decision.

“When sentiment turns very negative, you have to question what lies ahead. After returning from Jeddah, they discussed things and decided to end it all,” he revealed.

On the same occasion, Pastoor also mentioned the high expectations previously placed on the coaching team. He considered the target of taking the Indonesian National Team to the 2026 World Cup too heavy for the current circumstances.

“To my knowledge, there were three points of agreement with PSSI. First, it would be extraordinary to reach the World Cup. But as the world's 119th-ranked team, it's not easy or logical,” he concluded.
