Opening ceremonies were held across the three host nations: United States, Canada, and Mexico. In Los Angeles, United States, global pop icon Katy Perry performed as the main headliner. In Canada, celebrations took place in Toronto with performances from national music icons Alanis Morissette and Michael Bublé. They were accompanied by Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, and William Prince who entertained tens of thousands of attending spectators.
Meanwhile in Mexico City, Mexico presented a unique blend of pop, Latin, and classical music through performances by Shakira, Burna Boy, Andrea Bocelli, and EJAE. The festive atmosphere solidified the 2026 World Cup opening as one of the most lively ceremonies in the tournament's entire history.
Despite being attended by numerous global entertainment figures, none of the host nation leaders appeared at the opening match. United States President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum were all officially recorded absent from the stadium.

England National Team based themselves at The Inn at Meadowbrook, Kansas City, where the entire hotel premises were exclusively reserved to protect the squad's privacy. Germany chose Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem, while Switzerland are staying at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, a property equipped with premium facilities including a spa, Golf Course, equestrian centre, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
Both Portugal and France entrusted their accommodation arrangements to the Four Seasons hotel chain. Portugal selected Four Seasons Palm Beach, while France established their tournament base camp at Four Seasons Boston.
