DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is considering making tourist destinations free of charge during the 2026 Jakarta Anniversary celebration.

Jakarta's 499th Anniversary celebration is a special moment for residents of the capital city. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently reviewing a policy to waive entry fees for multiple popular tourist destinations that have long been favorite spots for local communities.

If this plan is implemented, both local residents and visitors will be able to access all regional government-managed recreational sites without purchasing admission tickets. Beach Tourism areas, zoos, museums, and public libraries are all eligible to be included in this special Jakarta Anniversary program this year.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed that his administration is assessing the feasibility of granting free access to government-owned tourist facilities as a form of public appreciation.

"For all tourist sites owned and operated by the DKI Jakarta Government, we will consider fully waiving entry charges. This applies to Ancol Recreation Park, Ragunan Wildlife Park, all city museums, public libraries, and other equivalent public facilities," Pramono stated.

This proposal has gained significant public attention, as locations such as Ancol and Ragunan Wildlife Park rank as the two most visited tourist destinations across weekends and School Holiday periods.

Ancol operates as Jakarta's largest integrated tourism precinct, offering diverse attractions including public beaches, amusement parks, and dedicated culinary districts.

Meanwhile Ragunan remains the most popular family leisure destination for visitors seeking green open space while learning about native and international wildlife species.

Additionally, Jakarta's public museums and libraries are also projected to record a sharp increase in visitor numbers if this free entry policy is activated. This initiative will also serve to boost public engagement with local history, Cultural Heritage, and literacy.

While full implementation details have not yet been finalised, Pramono confirmed that the provincial government will launch multiple dedicated public services in the lead-up to the anniversary celebrations.

One confirmed measure is the rollout of Free Public Transport on specified dates as part of the official Jakarta Anniversary event schedule.

"All announcements for these programs will be released publicly, definitely before the 22nd of June," Pramono added.

Alongside community focused anniversary programs, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also inaugurate multiple new public infrastructure and facility projects, intended to improve resident quality of life while strengthening the city's tourism appeal.

Among these completed projects is the full revitalisation of the HR Rasuna Said road corridor in South Jakarta, redeveloped to deliver significantly improved accessibility for pedestrians and public transport users.

Infrastructure works have also progressed in North Jakarta, where the provincial government will officially open a new commuter railway station serving the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) precinct.

This new station is designed to drastically improve public access to the stadium complex. With upgraded transport connectivity, the JIS area is projected to become a highly accessible integrated hub for sports, live entertainment and tourism activities.

Another major infrastructure project nearing completion is the dedicated pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting the JIS precinct directly to the Ancol tourism zone, built to integrate these two key city districts.
