The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared special benefits for local residents and tourists in celebration of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed that Public Transportation and a number of flagship Tourist Destinations will be made free of charge on 27-28 June 2026.

This policy forms part of this year's Jakarta Anniversary celebration series. Aside from hosting official ceremonial events, the administration will also provide the public with convenient access to enjoy various public facilities across the capital city.

"Specifically, leading up to Jakarta's official anniversary date on 22 June, we will waive all fares for public transport on 27 and 28 June. Entry will also be free for Ancol Recreation Complex, Ragunan Zoo, and all public museums operating in the city," stated Pramono in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.

This initiative is projected to increase public mobility while driving visitor traffic to Jakarta's favourite Tourism spots. Ancol, Ragunan Zoo, and museums across the capital have long been primary family leisure destinations, especially during weekends and School Holiday seasons.

Alongside the free access programme, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing several strategic projects that will be inaugurated ahead of the city anniversary. One of these projects is the revitalisation of the HR Rasuna Said Road precinct in South Jakarta.

According to Pramono, the area has been redeveloped as a dedicated corridor for pedestrians and public transport users. Transit stop upgrades, improved inter-modal connectivity, and additional green open spaces are core components of this Business district transformation.

The Jakarta provincial administration will also inaugurate a new Commuter Rail station serving the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) precinct in North Jakarta. This new station is expected to simplify public access to one of the capital's newest landmark facilities.

Infrastructure development around the JIS area is complemented by the construction of a connecting bridge leading to Ancol. This project is designed to integrate the city's sports and tourism zones to create smoother, more efficient travel for visitors.

These measures demonstrate the local government's commitment to improving public service standards, while also strengthening Jakarta's appeal as an urban tourism destination. With improved connectivity, visitors will be able to explore more locations within a single trip.

Previously, Pramono officially launched the HR Rasuna Said precinct as an additional venue for Jakarta's Motor Vehicle Free Day, also known as Car Free Day (CFD), on Sunday 7 June. This new public space provides residents with more options for recreational activities and exercise.
