Indonesia National Football Team ended a 38-year long wait after securing a 3-0 victory over Oman in an international friendly match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Friday evening. This win marks a historic moment for the Garuda Squad.

Prior to this match, Indonesia last defeated Oman on 18 January 1988 with the exact same 3-0 scoreline during the King's Cup tournament in Thailand. Now, nearly four decades later, Indonesia repeated this achievement on home ground in Jakarta.

Right from the opening whistle, Indonesia took attacking initiative. The squad managed by John Herdman created an early threat via a header from Nathan Tjoe-A-On which was successfully cleared by Oman's defensive line.

Indonesia's sustained pressure produced a goal in the 13th minute. Started from Nathan's free kick, Justin Hubner connected with an accurate directed header into Oman's goal, putting Indonesia ahead 1-0.

The Garuda side continued to dominate the match with fast combination attacks and solid ball possession. This resulted in Ole Romeny doubling Indonesia's advantage to 2-0 in the 27th minute.

Oman received an opportunity to narrow the score after Justin Hubner committed a foul inside the penalty box. However, Emil Audero successfully denied Hatem Al Rushadi's penalty kick.

The 2-0 lead for Indonesia remained unchanged until the half time break.

Entering the second half, Garuda maintained their aggressive playing style and scored the third goal in the 57th minute. Ragnar Oratmangoen extended Indonesia's advantage to a 3-0 lead.

Trailing by three goals, Oman attempted to respond with a series of attacking pushes. Musaab Hamed Almamari released an attempt on goal but failed to hit the target.

Ole Romeny came very close to scoring a brace in this match, but his chance was blocked by Oman's backline. Saddil Ramdani also got a clear scoring opportunity, however his shot drifted wide of the goalposts.

Oman's best chance in the second half came from a powerful strike by Ahad Alhabshi Almusahikhi, which was once again saved by Emil Audero.

This victory is not merely a positive Match Result, it also ended Indonesia's 38-year long wait to defeat Oman once again.

Indonesia will play their next international friendly fixture against Mozambique at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Tuesday 9 June, kickoff at 20.00 WIB.
