Indonesia National Team will face the Oman National Team on this FIFA Match Day fixture at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Friday 5 June 2026 at 20.00 WIB. This match is not just an ordinary international friendly, it also serves as an opportunity for Garuda Squad to end their long winless record against the side nicknamed Al-Ahmar.
38 full years have passed since Indonesia last claimed a victory over Oman. Now, under the direction of head coach John Herdman, Garuda is determined to rewrite this history right in front of their home supporters.
According to official 11v11 records, Indonesia and Oman have met a total of six times. Across these meetings, Indonesia secured two wins, one Draw, and suffered three defeats.

Both of Indonesia's victories were recorded at the King's Cup tournament. In their very first meeting, Garuda defeated Oman 2-0 on 24 February 1987.
One year later, Indonesia demonstrated their dominance once again with a convincing 3-0 win on 18 January 1988.
However after these back-to-back wins, Indonesia could never repeat this positive result. Oman went on to dominate every subsequent meeting between the two nations.
In a 2007 friendly fixture, Indonesia suffered a narrow 0-1 loss to Oman. Two years later, both sides met in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers and played out a goalless draw.
When they faced each other again for the same qualification tournament in January 2010, Indonesia fell 1-2. This defeat only extended Garuda's long wait to defeat Oman once more.
The last meeting between the two teams occurred in May 2021, while Indonesia was still managed by Shin Tae-yong. During that friendly match held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia suffered another 1-3 defeat.
Ahead of the upcoming clash at SUGBK, John Herdman acknowledged that this historic record is a unique challenge for his squad. The English coach stated he hopes full supporter backing will help Garuda claim a Historic Victory.
"As always, we hope the fans will fill GBK tomorrow night and give this team their full support. We have not beaten Oman in 38 years, that is the challenge standing before us," stated Herdman.
On the opposing sideline, Oman head coach Tariq Sektioui intends to preserve his side's unbeaten run against Indonesia.
"It is absolutely true that Indonesia has not won against Oman for a very long time. For our part, we will do everything we can to extend this run," said Sektioui, who will make his official debut as Oman head coach in this fixture after his appointment last March.
Both Indonesia and Oman failed to qualify for the final tournament of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Indonesia were eliminated after losses against Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the fourth qualification round, while Oman fell to United Arab Emirates and only managed a draw against Qatar.
This match in Jakarta is a fresh start opportunity for both nations. For Indonesia, victory is not only about the final Match Result, it is about closing a wait that has stretched nearly four full decades.
Powered by home crowd support at GBK and new momentum under Herdman, Indonesia National Team now holds the chance to write brand new history.
