Indonesia National Team delivered a solid performance to defeat Oman with a convincing 3-0 scoreline during the FIFA Match Day fixture held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta on Friday. Behind this victory, the outstanding display from Goalkeeper Emil Audero was one of the key factors that kept Garuda Squad resilient throughout the entire match.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper demonstrated his quality by pulling off four crucial saves. One of the most defining moments occurred in the 38th minute, when he successfully denied Oman striker Hatem Alrushadi from the penalty spot.

At that point, Oman had an opportunity to cut the deficit and build momentum for a comeback. However, Emil correctly read the trajectory of the shot aimed at the right side of the goal. This vital save ensured Garuda retained their two-goal advantage heading into the half-time break.

After the match, Emil revealed that the core key behind his strong performance was his ability to maintain full focus for the full duration of the fixture. According to him, unbroken concentration is the most critical aspect for any goalkeeper, especially when facing high-stakes situations such as a penalty kick.

"Regarding that penalty save specifically, the most important thing for me was just to stay focused and remain fully engaged in the game," stated Emil during the post-match press conference held at SUGBK on Friday.

This save received special recognition from Indonesia National Team Head Coach John Herdman. He assessed that Emil's penalty stop was one of the critical turning points that prevented Oman from gaining comeback momentum and applying greater pressure on Indonesia.

Despite earning the public spotlight for his series of vital saves, Emil emphasised that his performance was only made possible through the collective work of every player, particularly the defensive line which maintained tight discipline throughout the entire match.

The goalkeeper, who is spending this season on loan at Cremonese from Como, explained that keeping a clean sheet is the result of coordinated work across the entire defensive unit, never the sole achievement of one goalkeeper.

"Today I believe we, as a defensive unit, did an extremely good job," remarked the 29-year-old shot stopper.

Emil went on to clarify that active coordination between the goalkeeper and outfield defenders is a fundamental factor for stable team defence. For him, a save cannot be considered fully successful if the back line fails to react quickly to secure any loose rebound balls.

"As an example: very often a goalkeeper will make a save, but then who reaches the rebound first? If the opposition striker gets there first, that means the defensive line was not properly prepared," he added.

This statement reflects How Emil views defence as an interconnected, mutually supporting team effort. He acknowledged the consistent support he received from his teammates on the pitch, while noting he always strives to deliver maximum contribution whenever the team requires it.

"I can help them, but they also help me over and over again," he concluded.

Emil Audero's impressive showing in the victory over Oman further cemented his status as one of the core foundational pillars of the Indonesia National Team in the John Herdman era.
