Indonesia National Team ended a 38-year long wait after securing a 3-0 win over Oman in an international friendly match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Friday night. This victory marks a historic moment for the Garuda Squad.

Prior to this match, Indonesia last defeated Oman on 18 January 1988 with the exact same 3-0 scoreline during the King's Cup tournament in Thailand. Almost four decades later, the nation has repeated this achievement on home ground in Jakarta.

Right from the opening whistle, Indonesia took the attacking initiative. John Herdman's side threatened through a header from Nathan Tjoe-A-On, which was successfully cleared by Oman's defensive line.

Indonesia's pressure paid off with a goal in the 13th minute. Starting from Nathan's free kick, Justin Hubner met the ball with a well-placed header into Oman's goal, putting Indonesia ahead 1-0.

The Garuda squad continued to dominate the match with quick combination attacks and ball possession. This lead was doubled by Ole Romeny who made it 2-0 for Indonesia in the 27th minute.

Oman received a chance to narrow the gap after Justin Hubner committed a foul inside the penalty box. However, Emil Audero successfully denied Hatem Al Rushadi's penalty attempt.

The 2-0 scoreline for Indonesia remained until the half-time break.

Entering the second half, Garuda kept up their aggressive play, scoring their third goal in the 57th minute. Ragnar Oratmangoen extended Indonesia's advantage to 3-0.

Trailing by three goals, Oman attempted to respond with a series of attacking plays. Musaab Hamed Almamari fired a shot but failed to hit the target.

Ole Romeny came very close to securing a brace in this match, but his chance was blocked by Oman's backline. Saddil Ramdani also received an opportunity, only to see his shot drift wide of the goal.

Oman's best chance in the second half came from a powerful strike by Ahad Alhabshi Almusahikhi, which was also saved by Emil Audero.

This victory is not just a positive result - it also brings an end to Indonesia's 38-year wait to defeat Oman once again.

Indonesia will play their next friendly match against Mozambique at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Tuesday, 9 June, kick-off at 20.00 WIB.
