Denpasar - The combination of exotic natural beauty and high-adrenaline thrills has emerged as a new magnet for the global Tourism industry. Marking this historic milestone, the dramatic cliff coastline of Broken Beach in Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, Bali, has been officially selected as the host venue for the prestigious Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2026, scheduled for 21-23 May 2026.

This world-class elite acrobatic cliff diving competition is far more than just spectator entertainment. It serves as a clear statement that the Island of the Gods has now matured as a premium global Sport Tourism destination.

Transition Momentum Towards 'Quality Tourism'
For the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, this extreme sporting event aligns fully with the region's modern tourism transformation vision. AA Made Anggiawidana, Head of Tourism Destinations Division for Bali Tourism, explained that this tournament will act as a critical catalyst to shift Bali's tourism paradigm away from mass tourism towards sustainable Quality Tourism.

"Through this Sport Tourism initiative, we hope the world will come to know Bali in its entirety. Not only the famous charms of South Bali, but also discover the premium Sports Tourism potential spread across all parts of the island," stated Anggiawidana in Denpasar, Thursday (21/5/2026).

The Bali Provincial Government has expressed full appreciation for Nusa Penida being selected as host. Full security support is also in place, including strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Navy to guarantee maximum safety and security standards for all athletes and event personnel at the challenging cliff venue.

Unique Fusion: Extreme Sports Embracing Local Culture
One of the most distinct features of this world series stop is how organisers have seamlessly merged global Extreme Sports culture with Balinese local wisdom. Red Bull Cliff Diving 2026 in Bali will not only showcase the area's breathtaking blue ocean views, but also provide a dedicated platform to celebrate the island's rich local Cultural Heritage.

Elite international athletes will be immersed in local lifestyle through thoughtfully integrated cultural elements. This includes introductions to traditional Balinese games, as well as using iconic Balinese dance fans for the official competition dive order draw. "It is not only Bali's natural beauty that is on show. Our cultural identity will also be elegantly introduced to these international athletes," Anggiawidana added, as quoted by Antara News Agency.
