In the coming weeks, Busan will not only serve as a Beach Tourism and culinary destination, but also become the main stage for one of the world's largest pop culture phenomena: BTS. BigHit Music has announced that this global idol group will run a city-scale collaborative project with the Busan municipal government to celebrate their debut anniversary.

Named "BTS The City Arirang - Busan", this program is designed to transform South Korea's second largest port city into an immersive interactive space for ARMY fans visiting from all across the globe.

A Korea Herald report published Monday, 18 May stated that this project will roll out a full series of themed tourist experiences spread across every district of the city.

Visitors will be welcomed with dedicated official booths, exclusive shuttle buses, and custom tourist trails crafted to match BTS' artistic atmosphere and musical journey.

"BTS The City Arirang - Busan" is not merely a music celebration. It is also a deliberate urban Tourism strategy, merging global pop culture with the unique coastal identity of Busan.

Busan's main public roads are projected to be filled with international travellers arriving to experience the BTS anniversary festivities first-hand.

One of the program's central activity hubs will be the city's main railway station, where official BTS pop-up stores will be opened for fans.

At this location, visitors can access exclusive official merchandise, visual installations, and interactive exhibition areas that document BTS' entire career trajectory.

These activations will not stop there: all major Busan landmarks will also be reimagined as part of the night-time immersive experience.

Iconic buildings and public spaces will be fitted with special lighting, alongside projected video messages from each BTS member, turning the entire city atmosphere into a full-scale international Cultural Festival.

The peak of the celebrations is scheduled for 12-13 June, when BTS will hold their headline concert in Busan. Across both nights, the Gwangalli Beach area will host a massive drone light performance utilising over 1000 aerial drones.

Above this famous beach known for its panoramic views of Gwangan Bridge, thousands of drone lights will form BTS' signature visuals and official symbols against the night sky.

This show is forecast to become one of South Korea's most spectacular tourist attractions this year, while also cementing Busan's position as one of Asia's leading modern Cultural Festival cities.

Busan has long been recognised as a city that balances coastal nature, traditional culture, and dynamic urban life.

Beside its world-famous beaches, the city also hosts traditional seafood markets, vibrant colourful art districts, and mountain hiking trails with unobstructed views over the Sea of Japan.

Through this partnership with BTS, Busan is expanding its public identity as a global pop culture focused Tourist Destination.

The K-pop phenomenon that was once only experienced through digital screens is now being translated into a physical, explorable city-wide experience for visitors.

BTS is currently completing their ongoing "ARIRANG" world tour across the United States. The group will perform the final show of their three-date Stanford California run, before the full attention of fans worldwide will shift entirely to Busan this coming June.

For ARMY, this celebration means far more than just marking their favourite group's debut anniversary. This is a Cultural Journey where music, community, and city life merge into one unique modern coastal Travel Experience on the shores of South Korea.
