Indonesia has fielded 17 representatives at the Badminton Tournament, the Thailand Open 2026 in Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, from May 12-17. However, among all the names, the spotlight is on the comeback of the men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, reunited after being separated for almost two seasons.
The Leo/Daniel reunion is one of the most compelling stories in the Indonesian squad's journey to this year's Thailand Open. The pair, previously the mainstay in the men's doubles sector, were split up in 2024 as part of a performance improvement program.
Following the split, Leo partnered with Bagas Maulana, while Daniel was paired with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri. However, Daniel's journey was disrupted after suffering an injury following the 2025 Sudirman Cup, forcing him out for quite some time.

The Thailand Open marks the revival moment for the Leo/Daniel duo. In their first comeback match, the Indonesian pair will face Taiwan's representatives, Lai Po Yu/Tsai Fu Cheng.
Meanwhile, the new pair Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Putra Erwiansyah face a tough challenge immediately. They must face the top seeds from India, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, in the early round.
In the men's singles sector, Indonesia brings four names. They are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo, and Muhamad Yusuf, who must start their campaign from the qualifying rounds.
Main attention is directed towards Ginting, who is slowly starting to rediscover his best form. However, the first-round draw presents a stern test as he must face the world number one men's singles player from China, Shi Yu Qi.
Indonesia has two representatives in the Women's Singles sector, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan and Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi. Both must fight their way through the qualifying phase alongside Muhamad Yusuf.
In the Women's Doubles sector, Indonesia is relying on the duo Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine and the senior-junior pairing of Apriyani Rahayu and Lanny Tria Mayasari.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's strongest contingent is actually in the mixed doubles sector with six pairs fielded. They are Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah, Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Bernadine Anindiya Wardana, Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, and Verrel Yustin Mulia/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata.
The Thailand Open 2026 is not just a title-hunting event for Indonesia. This tournament also serves as an evaluation arena for new strengths, a comeback moment for several players, and an important test leading up to the next series of major BWF tournaments.
