The overseas career of Indonesia National Team striker Ramadhan Sananta at DPMM FC has officially entered a new chapter. The Brunei Darussalam club competing in the Malaysian League confirmed they will release Sananta after he represented the side for one full season.

This announcement was published by DPMM via the club's official website on Wednesday. Alongside Sananta, DPMM is also releasing Brazilian Goalkeeper Michel Americo and long-serving player Najib Tarif as part of squad evaluation ahead of the upcoming campaign.

"DPMM FC has released Ramadhan Sananta, and will be releasing Brazilian goalkeeper Michel Americo and Najib Tarif. Further player departures will be announced in due course," the club statement read.

Signed from Persis Solo at the start of the season, the 23-year-old striker made 27 domestic competitive appearances, registering four goals and two assists during his spell.

While these statistics do not yet fully demonstrate Sananta's peak potential, DPMM noted the player still has significant room for development. The club has even left the door open for a possible re-signing in future, should Sananta show improved performance during his time at other clubs.

"The club extends its gratitude for all his contributions to DPMM FC. Moving forward, DPMM will continue to monitor his progress at his next club. As he remains very young, we may look to bring him back in the coming years should he develop as expected," the club added.

This decision has sparked speculation over Sananta's next career move. The striker, who has earned 18 senior caps for the Indonesia national side, is widely rumoured to return home to join Persebaya Surabaya.

These rumours have gained traction as Persebaya is currently managed by Bernardo Tavares — the coach who previously worked with Sananta at PSM Makassar. The pair formed a successful partnership that guided PSM to lift the 2022/2023 Liga 1 title.

During that title-winning season, Sananta scored 11 goals and provided two assists aged just 20. This breakout performance was a key milestone in his career that ultimately led to his national team call-up.

Meanwhile, DPMM confirmed Michel Americo's release came due to lack of playing time, with first choice goalkeeper Haymie Nyaring maintaining consistent form between the posts. As for Najib Tarif, the player departs after over a decade of service, having first joined the club back in 2012.

"Brazilian goalkeeper Michel Americo made two appearances for DPMM, but was unable to displace regular starting keeper Haymie Nyaring. Najib Tarif has been with DPMM since 2012, and we are deeply grateful for his enormous contributions to this club," the official statement concluded.

All eyes are now on Ramadhan Sananta's next move. Still at a young age, the Indonesian striker has plenty of time ahead to prove his quality and rebuild his reputation, both in domestic competition and on the international stage.
