Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah carries the remaining hopes of Indonesia in the men's singles Draw at the Thailand Open 2026. The young Badminton Player, popularly known as Ubed, progressed to the second round of this BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament after beating home favourite Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok on Wednesday evening.
Ubed's victory became vital for the Indonesian squad after Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was eliminated early, falling 12-21, 17-21 to China's Shi Yu Qi.
Ubed performed consistently throughout the match, claiming a straight games win 21-10, 21-18. In the opening game he immediately took control of the match tempo with aggressive offensive play that left his opponent unable to settle into the game.

“Alhamdulillah, today's match went quite well, it ran smoothly and I also did not sustain any injuries. Right from the start I had prepared my mindset that this opponent would not be easy to beat,” Ubed said after the match.
Ubed's dominance was very clear in the first game. His fast play and constant early pressure meant Panitchaphon could never escape the pressure, before eventually conceding the game 10-21.
However the match became far tighter in the second game. The Thailand representative took an early lead, forcing Ubed to work much harder to maintain the match rhythm.
“It got tight in the second game, I fell behind for a while but I just kept fighting for every single point, I never let my focus slip,” he stated.
Mental toughness was the difference in this contest. When put under pressure, Ubed managed to retain his concentration and gradually turn the match around before closing out the straight games victory.
The young Indonesian shuttler confirmed he did not make any major strategic changes. He stated that mental readiness was the main factor behind his stable on-court performance.
“There were no big changes to the game plan, I just stepped onto the court in a much more prepared state,” he explained.
Ubed's confidence is growing along with his run at this Super 500 level tournament. He has now set higher targets to reach the latter stages of the competition.
“This is a higher standard of tournament, so first I want to reach the quarter finals, then push on to the semi finals,” he added.
In the second round, Ubed will face a much tougher challenge against South Korea's Jeon Hyeok Jin, who advanced with a narrow 22-20, 21-19 win in his opening match.
