The Indonesian U17 national team had to acknowledge Qatar's superiority after losing 0-2 in the Group D continuation of the 2026 AFC U-17 Cup at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, Jeddah, Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the morning WIB.

This result makes the chance for Garuda Muda to advance to the knockout stage increasingly difficult. Indonesia has now collected only one win from the two matches they have played.

Since the beginning of the match, the team coached by Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto appeared aggressive and dominated ball possession. Garuda Muda tried to break down Qatar's tight defense through a combination of quick attacks.

The first golden opportunity came in the 15th minute through Noha's Free kick. However, his effort was still thwarted by Qatar's defensive line.

One minute later, Indonesia was awarded a penalty after Taha Nassir committed a handball inside the penalty box.

Baker, who was trusted as the executor, tried to fire a hard shot to the right side of the goal, but it was still well read by Qatar's Goalkeeper, Bakri.

The penalty failure made Indonesia intensify their pressure on the opponent's defense. In the 19th minute, Putu Ekayana tried his luck with a long-range shot, but it was still blocked.

Towards the end of the first half, Ichiro also got an opportunity after finding shooting space in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, his hard kick again failed to result in a goal as it was stopped by Qatar's defense.

Until the break, both teams were still playing goalless.

Entering the second half, Qatar started to appear more courageous in attacking. Indonesia finally conceded in the 57th minute due to uncoordinated backline.

Jad Hadi Khalil sent a ripe pass that was finished by Ayokunle Samuel Tokade with a hard kick to put Qatar ahead 1-0.

Trailing by one goal, Garuda Muda increased the intensity of their attacks. However, Qatar appeared more effective in utilizing opportunities.

In the 66th minute, Khalil once again became the attack creator. His pass to the left side was received by Dhiaeddine Larbi who then pierced into the Indonesian defense area before firing a shot into the corner of Mike Rajasa's goal.

The Indonesian goalkeeper failed to reach the ball and Qatar extended their lead to 2-0.

Indonesia actually had several opportunities to reduce the deficit. In the 88th minute, Chico Yarangga almost scored, but his shot from inside the penalty box was still parried by Bakri.

During Injury time, Miraj Sulaeman also threatened with a curving shot, but once again Bakri shone under Qatar's crossbar.

Qatar had to play with 10 men after Amr Mohamed received a red card for a hard foul. Despite having a numerical advantage for the remainder of the match, Indonesia still failed to score until the final whistle blew.

In the last Group D match, Indonesia is scheduled to face Japan U17. Meanwhile, Japan is now at the top of the standings after securing a 2-1 victory over China and collecting six points from two matches.
