Indonesia reaffirms its status as one of the world's marine tourism paradises. The Ministry of Tourism is promoting premier dive destinations as part of its strategy to develop quality and Sustainable Tourism.

This significant move was made through participation in Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) 2026 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre from April 10-12.

The expo is recognized as one of the largest diving industry platforms in the Asia-Pacific region.

Through the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion, the government showcased the archipelago's underwater tourism strengths to international markets. Eight dive tourism businesses participated, ranging from resort operators to dive centers.

Promoted destinations include Raja Ampat, Labuan Bajo, Bali, Lombok, Lembeh, Maratua, and Ambon.

These areas are renowned for world-class marine biodiversity and diving experiences sought by global travelers.

Beyond tourism operators, Garuda Indonesia reinforced the promotion by providing transportation information and services to various national marine tourism destinations.

Tourism Ministry's Deputy for Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini emphasized Indonesia's participation in ADEX 2026 aligns with transforming the national tourism sector toward Quality Tourism focusing on premium experiences, sustainability, and greater economic contribution.

Indonesia also holds key roles as Official ADEX Dive Destination Partner and Official ADEX Bag Sponsor. These positions provide broader promotional exposure, including features in international media like Asian Diver magazine.

"Through ADEX 2026, Indonesia continues strengthening its image as a world-class marine tourism destination while advancing quality and sustainable tourism," she stated.

The government expressed strong optimism about this event's impact on increasing foreign Tourist Visits, particularly among international diving communities.

"We're confident this expo will boost interest and visits from International Tourists, especially divers, to experience Indonesia's underwater beauty firsthand," she added.

ADEX, held since 1994, is Asia-Pacific's largest dive exhibition and conference. The 2026 edition featured 100 exhibitors and attracted approximately 15,000 visitors globally.

Indonesia also presented a session titled "Dive Indonesia – Exploring the Ocean, Experiencing Beyond," promoting dive packages, Indonesia Diving Directory, tourism information services, and interactive visitor activities.

Economically, Indonesia's participation is projected to generate transaction potential of approximately Rp7 billion and attract 500 foreign tourists, demonstrating the substantial value of the national marine tourism industry.

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data reinforces this potential: 43.32% of international tourists visiting Indonesia engage in marine tourism activities, proving this sector remains the engine for Indonesian Tourism Growth.
