Land Route Revolution: Sangkuriang Train Connects Banyuwangi-Bandung Non-Stop Over 1,002 KM

Banyuwangi  – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area (Daop) 9 Jember has officially introduced an ambitious long-distance Transportation Innovation. Through the launch of KA Sangkuriang, the public can now enjoy a 1,002-kilometer journey without transit, connecting the eastern tip of Java Island, Ketapang Station (Banyuwangi), directly to Bandung Station, West Java (Round Trip).

The inaugural service of this epic route is scheduled to start operating from Ketapang Station on May 2, 2026. This step marks a new milestone in the efficiency of Train Travel in Indonesia, eliminating the need for passengers to change trains when crossing provinces.

Unlimited Inter-Regional Connectivity
The Legal and Public Relations Manager of Daop 9 Jember, Cahyo Widiantoro, emphasized that this innovation is not just about adding a new route, but about providing a much more practical and efficient travel solution.

"With the direct Ketapang-Bandung route without transit, customers can now enjoy long-distance travel more practically. This also becomes a travel alternative that prioritizes comfort and inter-regional connectivity," said Cahyo as quoted by ANTARA on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

In a single journey, KA Sangkuriang will traverse Java Island by passing through various strategic cities, starting from Jember, Lumajang, Surabaya, Solo, Yogyakarta, Ciamis, to Tasikmalaya, before arriving at the final destination, Bandung.

Modern Facilities for a Thousand-Kilometer Journey
Given the distance of over a thousand kilometers, KAI has equipped KA Sangkuriang with the latest modern stainless steel Train facilities to ensure passenger comfort:

1 Compartment Car: Offers high privacy with an exclusive capacity of 16 seats.
4 Executive Stainless Steel Cars: Total 200 seats (50 seats per car).
3 Economy Stainless Steel Cars: Total 240 seats (80 seats per car).
Support Facilities: Equipped with one restaurant car (dining) and one generator car.
