A survey by Be Clever With Your Cash reveals 39 percent of tourists face unexpected situations during Holiday and require physical cash. 

This figure serves as a reminder that travel, however well-planned, retains elements of spontaneity.

Many travelers today rely on three primary payment methods: local currency cash, specialized Travel cards, conventional credit cards, and digital payments. 

Among these four methods, cash often acts as a "lifesaver" in specific scenarios – from tipping to paying taxis or transacting at small shops untouched by digital systems.

While cashless options offer convenience, they can sometimes increase expenses.

Without preparation, tourists may face foreign ATM withdrawal fees or unfavorable exchange rates when converting money at airports.

Meanwhile, an Opinium survey of 2,000 UK tourists shows many were forced to make sudden cash withdrawals during holidays, incurring higher costs due to international transaction fees.

This phenomenon grows more relevant when exploring destinations beyond major cities. In remote areas, traditional markets, or Tourist Villages, card payments often remain unavailable. 

Here, cash transcends mere transaction utility – it becomes a bridge connecting travelers to local life.

"Cash usage remains debated. Many assume fee-Free cards suffice, but it's futile if you end up using foreign ATMs with charges or getting poor exchange rates," says Be Clever With Your Cash financial expert Amelia Murray.

Murray's advice is simple yet vital: prepare local currency cash before departure. 

This step not only avoids extra costs but provides security during emergencies.
