Chelsea have secured the future of their captain, Reece James, after the right-back signed a new contract until 2032. This announcement marks Chelsea's long-term commitment to one of the most important players in their current squad.

James is a product of Chelsea's academy. He has trained at Cobham since the age of six.

His journey from the youth team to becoming a central figure in the first team makes him a symbol of the success of the London club's player development system.

In recent seasons, the 24-year-old right-back has also been entrusted with the captain's armband and has become one of the leaders in the dressing room.

Since breaking into the senior team, James has made over 200 appearances across competitions for Chelsea.

His contribution extends beyond match quantity to the club's achievements.

During his time at Chelsea, he has helped the team win five major trophies, including the prestigious UEFA Champions League in 2021 and two FIFA Club World Cup titles.

Additionally, James has captained the team in over 50 matches, solidifying his role as the new-generation leader at Stamford Bridge.

The England international expressed pride in continuing his journey with the club that raised him.

"I'm extremely happy to extend my contract. Chelsea means so much to me. I've always said I want to spend my peak years here, and I truly believe we have everything needed to continue our past successes," James stated on the club's website.

He also affirmed his confidence in the club's long-term project under current management.

"I'm excited about the future with the club's ownership, sporting directors, coaches, and entire staff. May we win more trophies together in the coming years," he added.

With this new contract, Chelsea not only retain one of their best players but also ensure a strong leadership foundation for seasons to come.
