Moral support poured in for young Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky following his tough debut with Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid. The 22-year-old keeper had a disastrous start at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Two critical errors in the opening minutes allowed the hosts to score through Marcos Llorente and Julian Alvarez.

Addressing the situation, Spurs manager Igor Tudor made a drastic decision by substituting Kinsky off in the 17th minute. He brought on first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as replacement.

This decision sparked reactions from several former top goalkeepers worldwide, including Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.

"He took him off, that will affect the rest of his career. He has completely destroyed his career," Schmeichel stated during CBS' broadcast.

According to Schmeichel, substituting a young goalkeeper so early could massively impact the Player's Mental state.

He believed Kinsky should have been given the chance to at least finish the first half to regain his confidence.

Tottenham's nightmare worsened as they trailed 0-3 within just the first 15 minutes.

Besides goals from Llorente and Alvarez, French striker Antoine Griezmann also exploited gaps in Spurs' defense.

Despite the substitution, the situation didn't improve much. Vicario still had to retrieve the ball from his net twice more as Atletico maintained pressure throughout the match.

Tudor's move also drew criticism from former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

He expressed shock at the decision, noting it's rare for a goalkeeper to be substituted so quickly in a major match.

Further sympathy came from former England National Team keeper Joe Hart. He said he felt sad seeing what Kinsky endured after just 14 minutes on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina goalkeeper David De Gea also sent supportive messages via his X account.

He emphasized that only fellow goalkeepers truly understand the immense pressure in such situations.

De Gea encouraged Kinsky to stay strong and rise from this bitter experience.

Ultimately, Tottenham had to acknowledge Atletico's superiority with a crushing 2-5 defeat.

But for several world goalkeepers, that night in Madrid wasn't just about defeat—it was a mental test for the young keeper now challenged to bounce back and prove his quality.
