Amid growing interest in Halal Tourism across Asia, one urban destination is gradually cementing its position as a favorite among Muslim travelers. Hong Kong, renowned for its skyscrapers, world-class shopping centers, and modern transportation network, is now strengthening its reputation as an inclusive destination for Muslim visitors.

Chairman of the Indonesian Travel Agents Association (Astindo), Pauline Suharno, stated that Hong Kong is considered a Muslim-friendly Travel Destination.

According to her, various initiatives have been undertaken to solidify Hong Kong's position as a leading Muslim-Friendly Destination in Asia.

"These efforts have received global appreciation," said Pauline in a press statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Pauline explained that global recognition for Hong Kong is reflected in its position in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2025.

The city ranked third in the list of the world's Muslim-Friendly Tourism destinations, an important indicator assessing facilities, services, and comfort for Muslim travelers.

Not only that, Hong Kong also received recognition at the Halal in Travel Awards 2025, winning the Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Destination award from CrescentRating.

These efforts did not happen by chance. Tourism stakeholders in Hong Kong are actively enhancing services for visitors and striving to provide comfort for Muslims performing religious practices during their holidays.

One concrete step is the provision of prayer facilities at various strategic points. Prayer spaces are now available at key transportation hubs like Hong Kong International Airport, as well as in several shopping centers and tourist attractions.

Halal certification in the region is supervised by The Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong to ensure Muslim tourists can enjoy culinary services safely and comfortably.

For travelers wishing to explore the historical traces of Islam in the city, Hong Kong also boasts several iconic mosques.

One of them is the Kowloon Mosque & Islamic Centre, standing majestically in the Tsim Sha Tsui area and serving as the hub for the local Muslim community's activities.

In order to expand this Tourism Promotion, Astindo is collaborating with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to campaign for Hong Kong tourism during the period of March 6 to May 6, 2026.

This collaboration, involving five travel agencies, aims to provide an inclusive Travel Experience for all tourists, including Muslim tourists.

With its combination of modern infrastructure, cultural diversity, and increasingly comprehensive prayer facilities and halal dining options, Hong Kong continues to strengthen its position as one of Asia's Muslim-friendly tourist destinations.
