Minnesota Timberwolves are moving quickly to address the remainder of the 2025/2026 NBA regular season. The Western Conference franchise has re-signed Mike Conley Jr to bolster their playoff push.
According to the official National Basketball Association (NBA) website on Wednesday, the Timberwolves signed Conley after he had briefly joined the Charlotte Hornets.
Conley's return to Minnesota comes just two weeks after he was involved in a three-team trade sequence.

He was initially sent to the Chicago Bulls, before being packaged again with Coby White in a player exchange with the Charlotte Hornets a day later.
However, the Hornets decided to waive the 36-year-old player the day after that. That situation made Conley eligible to rejoin the Timberwolves.
Minnesota then signed him to a veteran minimum contract after successfully reducing their tax burden below the first apron threshold under the NBA salary cap rules.
This financial maneuver also gave the Timberwolves flexibility to acquire guard Ayo Dosunmu in a separate deal with the Chicago Bulls.
Although Conley's statistical contributions and playing minutes have decreased this season, his impact is considered to go beyond the numbers on the stat sheet.
He is known as a respected leader figure in the locker room, with extensive experience and mature game understanding.
Throughout his career, Conley has won four NBA Sportsmanship Awards and been selected twice as the league's best teammate, a track record that solidifies his reputation as a player with positive character.
Currently, the Timberwolves hold a record of 34 wins and 22 losses, placing them sixth in the Western Conference.
They are scheduled to host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, February 20, in their first game back after the 2026 NBA All-Star break.
With an increasingly busy schedule and Western Conference competition growing tighter, the decision to re-sign Conley shows the Timberwolves are pursuing not just points, but also stability and experience to push them further this season.
