English League Domination! 5 Premier League Giants Advance Directly to Champions League Last 16

The league phase of the 2025/26 Champions League has officially concluded after the eighth matchday, with English teams dominating Europe's top tier. Of the eight teams securing automatic qualification to the Round of 16, five are Premier League clubs.

Arsenal finished as group leaders with a perfect points record, symbolizing the consistency and strength of English representatives throughout the league phase. Bayern Munich followed in second place.

The spotlight shines on other Premier League clubs securing top-eight positions. Alongside Arsenal, the four other English teams are Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Only Newcastle United failed to advance directly among English participants.

Liverpool concluded this phase brutally by demolishing Qarabag 6-0, while Tottenham Hotspur defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0. 

Chelsea and Manchester City also demonstrated championship mentality by securing crucial victories that guaranteed their place in the fast track to the last 16.

Amid English dominance, Barcelona and Sporting CP joined Bayern Munich as the only non-Premier League clubs in the elite top eight. 

Conversely, several major clubs must navigate the risky playoff path. Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund failed to reach the top eight and face extra battles to keep their tournament hopes alive.

The Champions League playoffs are scheduled for February 17–18, 2026 (first legs) and February 24–25, 2026 (second legs). 

With English clubs dominating, questions arise: Will Premier League supremacy continue into the knockout stages?
