Arsenal have secured their spot in the Round of 16 of the Champions League, but the final group stage match still holds significant meaning for Mikel Arteta's squad. A win against Kairat Almaty at Emirates Stadium would see the Gunners set a new Champions League record in the modern format.

The match against Kairat on Thursday, January 29, 2026 (early morning WIB) no longer impacts Arsenal's Standings.

They had already guaranteed their knockout phase place before the final matchday. Yet historically, this fixture presents a special opportunity.

Arsenal could become the first team to win all eight matches in the Champions League group stage.

This achievement has never been accomplished since UEFA introduced the new 36-team format.

Since last season, all participants play eight matches, with Liverpool holding the current best record of seven victories.

A victory over Kairat would establish Arsenal above all other teams in the early history of the Champions League's league format. Arteta remains cautious despite having secured advancement.

He referenced Kairat's performances against Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

"They made it very, very difficult for their opponents," Arteta stated on Arsenal's official website.

The Spanish coach emphasized Kairat shouldn't be underestimated. He demanded high intensity from his players to conclude the group stage perfectly.

"We must perform at our maximum because we want to win the match again, and we'll fight hard," he added.

For Arsenal, this match isn't merely a formality. It's an opportunity to cement dominance, maintain momentum for the knockout stages, and create a new record in the modern Champions League era.
