Three Indonesian Flavors Make World's Best Foods List, What Are They?

Indonesia once again etches its mark on the world's Culinary Tourism map. Three Indonesian dishes entered TasteAtlas' list of the world's 100 tastiest foods. This global recognition places Indonesian Food on par with Italian pizza, Japanese ramen, and Turkish kebabs.

TasteAtlas, a user-rating-based platform ranking World Cuisine, collected data on thousands of foods from various countries. They released the list of the world's 100 tastiest foods on December 5, 2025.

Three Indonesian foods made the top 100 list. Goat Satay ranked fourth, Soto Betawi at 29th position, and Padang Satay at 42nd place.

At the top of the global list, Paraguay's Vori-vori claimed first position.

Vori-vori, also called bori-bori, is a thick soup featuring chicken or beef meatballs containing vegetables, spices, and cheese. This dish has been popular in Paraguay since the 18th and 19th centuries.

In second place, the world honors Italy. Neapolitan Pizza ranked as TasteAtlas' second tastiest food worldwide with a 4.58 rating.

This signature Neapolitan dish features a very thin base crust that puffs up at the sides. This combination creates characteristic charred spots while remaining delicious.

Goat satay placed fourth with a 4.52 rating as TasteAtlas' world's tastiest food.

As the name suggests, this satay uses diced goat meat seasoned with sweet soy sauce, galangal, shallots, garlic, and a touch of pineapple juice.

TasteAtlas recommended several favorite goat satay spots across Indonesian cities: Sate & Gule Kambing Gereja Blenduk (Semarang), Warung Sate Tegal H Casmadi (South Jakarta), Sate Kambing Jaya Agung (Central Jakarta), and Sate Kambing Bang Elyas (Malang).

This achievement feels particularly special as goat satay surpassed iconic global dishes, defeating ramen, sushi, and kebabs.

Beyond Goat Satay, Indonesia also featured Soto Betawi at 29th place in TasteAtlas' top 30 list.

Soto Betawi placed 29th, while Padang satay ranked 42nd in the top 100.
