As public scrutiny begins to question Vinicius Junior's productivity, Real Madrid is taking the opposite stance. El Real coach Xabi Alonso stated statistics aren't everything, especially with the season still ongoing.
Vinicius is experiencing an unusual season, scoring just five goals in 25 appearances. The Brazilian winger last found the net in early October 2025.
He scored twice against Villarreal then, contrasting sharply with Kylian Mbappe's 29 goals from 24 matches.

"This season is long with many crucial matches ahead. He (Vinicius) is vital for us," Alonso said Thursday via Real Madrid's official channels.
This trust isn't merely rhetorical. Real Madrid faces Atletico Madrid in the 2026 Spanish Super Cup semifinal in Jeddah on Friday, January 9, 2026, without the injured Mbappé.
Consequently, offensive responsibility falls heavier on remaining players, with Vinicius at the forefront.
Alonso acknowledges this pressure, urging the Brazilian international to play freely and enjoy each match.
"We need Vinicius' dribbling ability to bypass defenders. Hopefully he can enjoy the game," Alonso remarked.
Support also comes from the dressing room. Jude Bellingham, one of Madrid's pillars this season, refused to judge Vinicius solely on goal tally.
"At his best, he's extremely dangerous. I'm confident he'll regain his sharpness," Bellingham stated.
For Bellingham, Vinicius remains a threat through his speed, creativity, and space-creating ability—even when not scoring.
In high-stakes matches under intense pressure, Madrid believes big players respond not with words but performances. Friday night in Jeddah will be his stage.
