The winter transfer window for the Premier League 2025/2026 hasn't opened yet, but anxiety is already palpable at the Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has openly expressed his concern about the future of Antoine Semenyo, who is being targeted by Premier League giants.

Semenyo's sparkling performances have attracted interest from elite Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. This interest is becoming more concrete because his contract with Bournemouth includes a £65 million release clause active during the winter transfer window.

For Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Semenyo is one of his team's most important assets. He hopes Semenyo won't leave when the transfer window opens on January 1st - February 2nd, 2026, as his role is considered too vital to lose mid-season.

"If a contract with another club is signed, it means both parties have already agreed. But as a manager, I just hope we don't lose Semenyo because he is very important for this team," Iraola said, quoted from the official Premier League website on Wednesday.

The coach from Spain admitted he doesn't have full control over transfer market dynamics, especially since Bournemouth has already lost many key players previously.

"I don't know what will happen in the future because I can't control that. In the last summer transfer window, many of our players moved, and I also don't know what will happen this winter," said Iraola.

Performance-wise, this concern is very justified. According to Transfermarkt records, Semenyo has appeared 17 times in all competitions this season. He has scored eight goals and provided three assists, contributions that make him Bournemouth's main goal machine.

For Bournemouth, the potential departure of Semenyo isn't just about losing a goal scorer, but losing a symbol of stability during a transitional phase.

In the summer of 2025, The Cherries already lost several pillars, especially in defense, such as Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain, Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, and Dango Ouattara to Brentford.

Now, with the season still ongoing and competitive targets yet to be achieved, Semenyo's future will determine Bournemouth's direction.

Will they be able to retain their backbone and maintain momentum, or will they once again have to rebuild amidst the storm of the transfer window? The answer will begin to emerge once the calendar turns to January 2026.
