Indonesian volleyball star Megawati Hangestri is officially no longer part of Turkish club Manisa BBSK. The confirmation came directly from Megawati through a post on her personal Instagram account on Tuesday, October 29, 2025.
In her statement, the player nicknamed Megatron stated that the contract termination was her own decision, not due to dismissal by the club.
"Hi guys, with this I, Megawati, would like to inform about today's news. It is true that I no longer have a contract with Manisa BBSK club, and this was entirely my personal request, not from any other party. This was mutually agreed upon with no coercion," wrote Megawati.

"I apologize if this news disappoints some people, and I ask all of you to maintain positive thoughts," she continued.
Earlier, Manisa BBSK explained the chronology of terminating the Indonesian national team captain's contract. Megawati was deemed to have failed her obligation to rejoin the team after completing the 2025 Livoli Premier Division.
"Our volleyball player Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi traveled to her home country Indonesia for the Livoli Premier Division 2025/2026 tournament as stipulated in her contract," Manisa BBSK wrote on Instagram as quoted in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"Although required to rejoin our team three days post-tournament per her contract, the player failed to fulfill this obligation," stated Manisa BBSK.
Megawati had represented Bank Jatim in the Livoli Premier Division 2025, which concluded on October 19. However, she didn't return to Turkey by October 22 as mandated by the club.
Megawati is currently focused on preparing with the Srikandi team for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, with training having commenced since October 23.
