Bogor – Syafira opens the latest episode of the ITSME travel series by inviting viewers to explore Mount Luhur, a popular hiking destination located in Sukawangi Village, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency, West Java. Standing at 1,750 meters above sea level, this mountain offers a relatively short trekking experience while still showcasing captivating natural scenery.
The journey starts at the basecamp area which serves as the hiker registration center. This location provides various supporting facilities including toilets, resting areas, hiking gear rental, and even accommodation for visitors who wish to stay overnight before or after their hike. That morning, the area was lively with activity as hikers prepared to begin their journey up to the summit.
Before heading onto the hiking trail, Syafira reminds everyone of the importance of warming up. Although Mount Luhur's trails are known to be friendly for Beginner Hikers, proper physical preparation is still required to reduce the risk of Injury or muscle cramps during the hike.

Not far from the entrance gate, visitors are immediately greeted by sprawling hydrangea flower beds. These blue, purple, and pink blossoms thrive along the mountain slopes, and are one of Mount Luhur's main attractions. At this spot, Syafira also had the chance to speak with local residents selling hydrangeas; this small Business plays an active part in driving the local economy around the tourist area.
Once entering the official hiking trail, forest surroundings begin to dominate the journey. The path varies greatly along the route, consisting of dirt tracks, crossing tree roots, and neatly arranged steps built and maintained by local villagers. This well-managed trail makes the journey both comfortable and safe for all hikers.
As the group climbs higher, the air grows noticeably cooler. Mist slowly drifts down to cover the mountain slopes and surrounding trees, creating a distinctive, magical atmosphere along the entire route. Occasional clearings along the trail reveal wide, sprawling green landscapes stretching far into the distance.
The group passes several hiking rest posts along the way. At Post 3, clean and well-maintained prayer room and ablution facilities are available for hikers who wish to worship. This is a valuable amenity that is rarely found on most other hiking trails.
One memorable moment occurred when the group discovered a clear, natural mountain spring deep in the forest. This fresh mountain water stream became a rest stop for hikers to refill their water supplies, while also taking a moment to appreciate the well-preserved natural freshness of the area.
After hiking for several hours, the summit marker board finally came into view. Standing at 1,750 masl, Mount Luhur's peak was the final and main destination for that day's journey. Even though mist still occasionally blocked the view, the atmosphere at the summit remained a deeply memorable experience.
Rather than descending immediately, the group chose to pause and rest for a while. They took out a portable camping stove, cooked instant noodles and sausages, and brewed cups of warm Coffee right there in the cold mountain air. This simple quiet moment became the perfect small reward after a journey spent climbing slopes, walking through forest, and passing the breathtaking hydrangea fields.
For Syafira, the experience of Hiking Mount Luhur was never just about reaching a certain elevation. This trip also provided an opportunity to slow down and truly appreciate nature, interact with local communities, and feel the sense of camaraderie that forms naturally along the hiking trail.
Before leaving the summit, she also reminded all visitors about the importance of protecting Nature Conservation by carrying back every single piece of waste generated during the hike. This simple message serves as a reminder: the beauty of these mountains can only be preserved and enjoyed if every visitor takes responsibility to care for them.
As late afternoon approached, the group made a calm, relaxed descent back down to the foot of the mountain. This episode closes with an invitation for viewers to share recommendations for other underrated Hidden Gem destinations that deserve to be featured in upcoming ITSME Travel Series episodes.
