Central Lombok – The prestigious racing event Formula Indonesia 2026 has been officially confirmed to run at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. More than just hosting a high-stakes speed competition, this Formula 4 (F4) category championship carries a core mission: to serve as a talent development incubator that discovers and grooms young Indonesian four-wheel racing drivers, preparing them to break through onto the international stage.

Confirmation for this major event was formalised through the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) and Formula Indonesia organisers, held at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday (14/6/2026).

MGPA Chief Executive Officer Ananda Mikola stated that the launch of Formula Indonesia marks a critical milestone for the national motorsport ecosystem. "This Formula Indonesia event at Mandalika Circuit is fully dedicated to developing Indonesian Racing Drivers for future international competitions. This championship forms an integral part of the motorsport development ecosystem built for Mandalika Circuit," explained the former national racing driver.

This single-seater racing series is scheduled to be held across two adrenaline-fuelled rounds, taking place in August and October 2026. Ananda further noted that this event will also demonstrate the operational versatility of Indonesia's flagship racing circuit.

"This confirms that Mandalika Circuit is not exclusively reserved for two-wheeled racing events such as MotoGP. This facility is fully certified and ready to host various four-wheeled racing championships, including Formula Indonesia," he added.

The same position was conveyed by Formula Indonesia CEO Michael Indradjaja, who was officially appointed for this role by leading French racing car manufacturer Ligier. Indradjaja reaffirmed full commitment to delivering on this young talent development mandate.

"This initiative exists purely for driver development. We have prepared 10 regulation-spec racing vehicles that will be ready to compete during the Formula Indonesia race events this coming August and October 2026," Michael stated, as quoted by Antara state news agency.

Beyond building achievements in automotive sport, Michael also emphasised the multiplier impact of this event. This four-wheeled racing partnership is designed to act as a new visitor magnet, driving positive economic and tourism growth for West Nusa Tenggara, and particularly strengthening the appeal of the Mandalika SEZ for both Domestic Visitors and global audiences.
