Husein Airport is preparing to resume jet flight services, with six airlines having submitted route proposals that cover both domestic and international travel routes.

Bandung – Husein Sastranegara Airport is one step closer to resuming jet aircraft flight services. As of Monday (20/7/2026), PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) operating under InJourney Airports has recorded that six airlines have submitted official applications to open flight routes from this centrally located Bandung city airport, as part of plans to re-optimise the airport's operations.

For leisure tourists and business travellers alike, this development opens up opportunities for additional direct flights to and from Bandung. Provided all licensing processes and operational adjustments proceed according to plan, air travel options to the capital of West Java are expected to become far more diverse.

Arie Ahsanurrohim, Group Head Corporate Secretary of InJourney Airports, confirmed to Antara News that airlines have shown very positive response towards the planned reactivation of Husein Airport.

For the next phase, InJourney Airports will manage the allocation of available flight time slots to accommodate all submitted applications within the airport's operational capacity.

Super Air Jet submitted the highest number of proposed routes, with planned services to Kualanamu, Denpasar, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Batam, Padang, Balikpapan, and Pontianak.

Meanwhile, Citilink applied for routes to Kualanamu, Denpasar, and Surabaya. Garuda Indonesia also announced plans to reactivate its Bandung–Denpasar flight service.

International flight options are also set to potentially increase. TransNusa submitted applications for routes to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, alongside a domestic route to Lampung. Scoot proposed direct flights to Singapore, while Wings Air applied for routes serving Lampung and Palembang.

According to Arie, re-optimising operations at Husein Airport is expected to strengthen connectivity for Bandung city and the wider West Java province, while driving growth across the tourism, trade, and investment sectors, as well as boosting regional economic performance.

Husein Airport holds a distinct advantage for the tourism industry due to its location within the urban city area. This positioning allows visitors to reach Bandung's central business district, culinary zones, and all major tourist attractions in a relatively short travel time.

The return of jet aircraft services is expected to deliver expanded travel options for both holiday visitors and business travellers.
